Legalities About Coral Trading

A quick note on the legality of selling coral. Many people wrongly believe that selling or trading coral specimens is illegal. The truth is that stony corals are protected under international CITES laws. They are classified as CITES 3, which is the lowest level of protection, which means they can legally be collected depending on the individual laws of the country of origin and exported into the United States as long as the proper exportation and importation permits are obtained.

All the coral I sell comes legally through the port of Los Angeles with permits and is inspected by all the appropriate state and federal agencies. You should search CITES Laws and the trade of coral. Here is an excellent place to start with:
